Hi

woke up this morning with full on double vision. My eyes started getting bad a couple days ago and now I can't drive for my job. My job does not.know about my illness. I m not new to this illness 15 years now. I get double vision about every 4 years that last for about 6 weeks. I have already called my eye dr to get some glasses made. I haven't called my neuro yet. I do not want steroids I just want this to be done already. I don't know if this is the time to take a leave at work or not. Is there anyone thst has had double vision and how long did it last? is steroids the only thing that makes it better? Ugh this sucks

Thanks everyone for your word or advice.

Hello jkdavid99, years ago before diagnosis I had a bout of double vision (vertigo) and it would last a couple days, after diagnosis I was prescribed Sol-u-Medrol for four days. What I got out of it was the cause of this is inflammation and the steroids will help this and it did. Now I try to eat less inflammatory foods and exercise often and so far so good.

The steroids will speed up the recovery or it did for me. Takes out the inflammation behind your 👁. I was lucky mine happened on a Friday and called my doctor 👩‍⚕️ and started five days steroid the next day. By Tuesday night it was starting to clear up. I went back to work the next week. Took about three weeks to totally clear up. 😉🙏are with you 👍

I had a bout with double vision. It was the worst. I had had an mri the week before and the neurologist office called and said I had an active lesion and needed steroids. It went away after a couple of weeks. What I found that helped was an eye patch. I found one on amazon but I think you could get one anywhere.

Totally good advice. My double vision comes and goes and as long as i cover one eye i can at least get around. I dont work any more so i dont drive during those times.

Definitely recommend the eye patch. I wore one for two months when driving. The MRI showed an active lesion on my 6 nerve causing diplopia.

I also took steroids to quiet the inflammation. Short course of steroids normally does not cause the side effects you describe.

Crap. I have an MRI dec 11th. I pray no active lesions. Dont think i cud handle steroids again.

jkdavid99 Blurred vision is what got me my MS diagnosis. I went for steroids and the blurriness cleared up. Please keep us updated on what you end up doing.

I had double vision and focus issues. Afraid to drive. My neuro referred me to opthalmologist. Everyone kept telling me 20/20 vision. That is sitting in an exam chair, not driving, reading or walking. Long story short, 6 months later found top notch neuro opthalmologist

.had saccaddes, convergence issues, nystagmus, also dry eyes and some retinal issues, thorough exam included evoked potential. Mri negative for enhancing lesions, just lots of lesions in my brain. . Combo of all factors. Stopped driving for a while, did eye exercises neuro based. Still cautious driving but not as many episodes.also can read.

Couldn't read in 2015_16 and they kept telling me vision 20/20. But I couldn't read a page. Convergence problems just Identified this yr. Now it makes sense.

Moral of story, find a good neuro opthalmologist.

No steroids but mri about 2 months after initial trigger. Optomerst said double vision all the time but compensated, then got out of hand.

Keep searching until you are comfortable with the diagnosis. Hoping it works out well for you.
