OT art

I see someone else has added a photo of their art. I, too, do art. I was told after testing last Dec that I needed OT to help my fine motor skills. Insurance said I have to hit my $2,000 deductible first...NOT. So I started to do this type of button and bead art. I have been profiled in an article as an MS artist for a show for artists with MS or those who are caregivers. I've attached the first one I did. I make them in shadow boxes to protect them from dust.

mrsmike9 that I'd besutiful and do unusual! Bet it requires a lot of patience! I should send you my half gallon jug of buttons I occasionally need to find one. But my husband sees the button on because no strength in right hand. Have you tried Nuvigil for energy? If your insurance approves (took awhile for me) it does get me out of bed unless I have over exerted myself the day before. Also, there is a natural product I buy called N-R-Gynthat helps also. Both help me and together they are great, but I don't "know how to pace " my self as doctor says and get overly tired, then brings on fatigue induced bronchitis/asthma. How do you make a shadow box? I have a collection (about a thousand) of sea shells from going to the ocean once a year for 40 years, I would like to be creative with and don't want them to be dust collectors. I really like shadow box art and crafts

Oh, I never answered your question about the shadow boxes. I don't make them but purchase shallow ones and build the art in them! I hope that makes sense!

I've done quite a few. Two cats, a dog, raccoon and a parrot. If I could I'd post another photo with this reply but there's no button to add one!

Now remember I wish you didn't have health issues but I think your OT has paid off for us all. That is really creative. It is amazing to me how much we find out about ourselves, and when we share its a chain reaction. You may consider selling some original artwork!

I have sold 3. The cat shown here was my baby (and first attempt) so she's mine. Next I did a Siamese cat laying down (just an 8x10) and sold it immediately for $150. Next I did a raccoon (12x12) and sold that right away for $250. A friend wanted her dog done but only wanted a smaller size. It was a struggle as I had to use only smaller buttons. Not up to my standard so I only charged her $100. Will not to something that complicated again in a small size! Next I did a parrot which I still have. May show that one in shows. I'm working on a comissioned piece now of a Holstei. Cow looking through a barn door!

My mom's first job was at the Holstein registry in Brattleboro, VT. It was before photographing cows for the registry. So my mom had mimeographed pages that had the outlines of each side, the front and the back of a cow. She had to draw the spots on the cows on the papers for registry! We always teased her that her first job was drawing spots on cows!

Awesome! Beautiful and great therapy!

My fine motor coordination is horrible --putting the cap back on toothpaste can be frustrating 😁

I put up another post the other day showing my raccoon. When I get to my computer with the other photos I will post them. I've only been doing this since January.
