As part of a hospital activity I made a tie dye t-shirt on Saturday. I had a lot of trouble processing the English directions. I haven't been able to read for enjoyment for about two years, and recently focusing is hard and slow, I usually have to reread things quite a few times before I'm comfortable that I understand it. The tie dye brochure had some of the directions in Spanish (I've known Spanish since I was a kid) and I read them. Today doing laundry I was putting the tie dye shirt in the washer and something clicked....maybe I can read in Spanish. I looked through my books and found one in Spanish. I CAN READ. I have to be careful to just read it and not try to translate or I get bogged down. Luckily I've known Spanish for so long that I can do this. While I would rather read in English, I am so thankful to be reading. Time to get new books.
