Hello my name is Ray. I have PPMS.. And I feel that I'm a prisoner. I can ONLY sit here on the couch. We have kiddie pool that I would love to get into to exercise my legs. My wife says she can get me out, but it's getting me out. Any ideas? I was thinking with my walker. Just to get me off my butt & out of the pool.

Welcome, rrunge3 , you've found a great group of people here to become friends with. I hope you feel as welcomed as I have.
Have you thought of taking your walker out, sitting on it (I assume it has a seat?) and just putting your feet into the pool? Those kiddie pools can be slippery, and trying to get up and out of one while your slick could make it even more dangerous. But maybe others here have some ideas for you. I do hope you are able to get out and enjoy some fresh air and a change of scenery. 💕
No seat, unfortunately, but thanks.
Have you thought of getting a sprinkler , that would be nice and cool and easy to use for only as long as you want. Get some water pistols and have a water gun fight. I'm sorry about what you're going through and wish you only the best.
Hmmm, but I'm wanting to exercise my legs.
Hi Ray, I have PPMS and it's hard to come to terms with. I have a peddle exerciser that I can sit on a dining chair and peddle, I bought it off Amazon . Maybe if you posted a picture of the kiddie pool then maybe someone would be able to suggest ideas for you as there are so many pools of different heights etc. Hope you get your problem resolved, blessings Jimeka 🦋 🌈 💦
Yep, we're all the same. But my left leg comes over & knocks knees. Oh what a world we share.
Are you able to get yourself up off the ground/floor? It's not a pretty sight when I do so, and I'm painfully slow, but I can get on my knees and up from there, using my hands to push off the floor. If you can do that, what if you put a couple of towels onto the bottom of the pool. That would take away the slip factor (I think) and hopefully allow you to push off the pool bottom to get yourself in the standing position. You would need someone there to assist you in and out of the pool though. Don't try it when you're home alone!😬
Hi, Ray. I also have PPMS. Ask your neurologist about biotin. I take 300 mg daily. Pure biotin from a compounding pharmacy. It costs $100 per month. It makes my legs feel stronger. Now I can go farther with my walker, up to 900 feet.
rrunge3 hi and welcome to Our MSAA Community 😊
I don't blame you for wanting a change of scenery.🌸 Check out MSAA'S aquatic site, and see if there is something to help you.😊,
Let us know ok?😁

This is what I do when I want to put my legs in the kiddie pool. I put a hard plastic step stool in the pool as close to the edge as I can. Then I put a hand towel on the top of it. I use my walker to get to the pool and sit down on the stool (my feet are outside the pool). Then I pivot and turn around and bring my legs into the pool and I can kick them and splash them to my heart's content. I just reverse the process to get out. Most days I have pretty severe spasticity in my left leg and can not get it to bend or lift enough to get it in easily. So what I do is use a flat dog leash (feels better on my bare feet than a rounded one) and use that to help lift my leg into and out of the pool.
Good thinking. Hmmm
