Hey guys, I was diagnosed in July and my neurologist started me on Aubagio. So that's 7 months of therapy, my hair has been falling out by the handfuls so he has decided to change me to Tecfidera. I was curious if anyone else has been through this same scenario.

I believe many of our drugs are in the chemo family, but I could be wrong - so don't hold me to it. When I was on Avonex, my hair fell out too.

I've never heard of hair loss on Avonex. I lost all of my arm hair on Copaxone, which I didn't mind.

Pretty profile picture😊

My understanding is that hair loss is expected with Aubagio and that's why they recommend taking biotin along with it. Perhaps you were taking the biotin and it wasn't helping enough.

Yes, same happened to me. After seven months, hair loss stopped.

Just applies to me but was on Aubagio for one year. Just stopped Feb 3 because it was not helping me and yes my hair was thinning throught the year I took it. More than once I had to clean the shower drain

Yes my hair fell out with aubagio by the handfuls. My doctor said to take selenium and zinc as that is what it was stripping from my body causing hair loss. I stopped taking it before i cud find out if those supplements wud help. My hair has now grown back after a year

I went to a luncheon put on for Aubagio. The Dr there said that the hair loss would stop (can't remember timeframe) and then it would reverse itself. Have you called the pharm company and asked?

mine was the other direction going to Aubagio to techfidera I understand the hair loss is temperary buy I've been thru the hair loss before with other drugs and it does grow back. I had to leave the techfidera since I couldn't take the full dose and it dropped my Lympcites dow too low and I tested pos for PML.

Krispat1975 I've been diagnosed for 2 yrs. Was put on Tecfidera in March of last year, and have had no hair loss. I'm 73, white hair, and the only side effects were some nausea for 1st month (which I hoped would help me lose lbs., nah!) and the "flushes" which are similar to the "hot flashes" that I've had forever. This feels more like skin surface stinging for a few seconds, and it's only occasionally throughout the day. I do take an 81 mg. aspirin in the evenings with that dose, and don't notice it much then. (I might ask Dr. about taking one in the morning too, but, I take a lot of fish oil, which also thins the blood.)

I have been on Tecfidera for three years since diagnosis and have never had any problems. No additional lesions either.

My friend at work was on Aubagio and her hair fell out in clumps. She had other side effects too. When she switched to Tecfidera, she developed more lesions so then she switched to Gilenya. All three are the pills on the market, so hopefully one of them will work for you. Much more convenient.
