This is "sprite" erash They are marsupials and indigenous to Australia. Almost like flying squirrels but smaller. No they don't fly, neither do the squirrels. They glide.

She is only about 6wks here :)

Jesmcd2 Believe it or not, I'm actually afraid of everything. Recently working at my mothers house getting it ready to be sold, the neighbors chickens started following me around the yard. The more I shooed them away, the closer they came until I ran in the house. A 52 year old woman running from chickens.😂

I used to be afraid of butterflies...snakes, lizards, no problem.

I am still not fond of butterflies, but at least I don't cower when they fly by me.

They are so cute! I love the chipmunks we have here. They look very much like the Sugar Gliders, but they're afraid of everything! I wish we had the Sugar Gliders! I love watching wildlife.

I have 4 of them, 2 male's Lightning, and Nosey ( who very much lives up to his name. :) ) And 2 female's Luna and Sprit. They are separated now because Lightning decided to like Sprite... his daughter a littllllle bit to much. Ugh. Lol

They grow to about 5in" that's with their tail. A marsupial has a pouch for its babes. So not like chipmunks and they can't be let go. These are pets.

As cute and friendly as they look? They can be heathens :D hahaha They are soft. And l hand raise them... but they get their own personality. So they can bite hard enough to draw blood. Sprit just stands up tall and does a bark type noise. All you can do is laugh. :D

They can live up to 15 , 16 yrs so it's a comment.

Oh yeah they are nocturnal also.

I'm curious what made you get sugar gliders? How did you hear about them?

I friend of mine was selling hers, with the cage on FB. So l asked her about him. And took it out in trade. I babysat for her and l got Gizmo. Then l did a ton of research on them, and wrote the San Diego Zoo. :)

If you're thinking of getting one. Be prepared to get 2. They are social creatures and can get depressed. :(

MOST importantly make sure it's legal in your state! As they arnt in all. I live close to the PA border and they are illegal there. So when l sold a cpl l cked driver licenses. For addresses.

And they are stinky lol Although they are animals soooo . I did find a charcoal thing that seems to help a ton.

Legal in Florida. But I likely can pursuade Mark to get a cat before we would add a sugar glider to our house. 😄

Jesmcd2, Wow. My brother would adore this. He loves Australian animals but I'm sure that these small little ones might be too hard for him to keep up with. He has a variety of kangaroos and indigenous animals native to Australia. What in the world got you started with these little "Heathens" as you call them? Fancy1959.

Jesmcd2, it's Fancy1959 responding back to your post about Sprite. He is incredible. Growing up in rural Indiana on the banks of the Whitewater River, we often work entertained animes by the flying squirrels that lived in our little sanctuary. They were incredible to watch and hard to fine. But once we did spot them we kept up with them as long as possible as they gracefully glided from tree to tree up in the treetops. They would spread their little arms and legs out. The flap of skin that connected the upper arms to the Torso and the legs to the hips with spread out allowing them to catch air and glide gracefully from tree to tree. They were a true joy to watch. And your little sprite looks like he'd be a true Joy to take places with you. You could have made people with him as he hung on to you and your pockets on your outings. How long have you had him, how old is he now, and what in the world do you feed little tiny bundle of cuteness!

Hi Fancy1959 they are awfully cute, and l just fell in love with them.

When my friend wanted to sell hers, I didn't want him to go to a bad home. ( she is where l got my dog from also )

I never let them run free. I have a carry pouch that l will put them in, and l have a hamster ball that they run in and chase the dog :D . I have 1 really big cage, for now. And a smaller one. They take turns wkly lol

Their diet is pretty easy, 3 day cycle of day 1, boiled chicken, veggie. and fruit, 2, meal worms, veg and fruit. 3 they get " goo " which has hard boiled egg, baby food, honey, their vitamins and minerals and other stuff you whip up in the blender and freeze. :D

Oh and Sprit she is now3-4 mos ? And won't let me hold her anymore. She stands up on her hind legs all big n bad. Hahaha but her little teeth right now are killing me. :)

If you're brother decides to look into getting one. Have him do the research. There are things they have to have and things that they can't have.

And they are * NOT * legal in all states :)

I've read that Sugar gliders are hard to raise unless hand reared, which it looks like you are doing. How cute!!!

No... You really don't RoseySawyer 😂🤣 you can't just have one, they get depressed. And they stink! Unless you clean the cage like every other day. And to do it right you really should make there food for them. And that stinks to.😒😂🤣 And the heathens bite! And I hand raised mine. They still bit me. 😒😂🤣
