We are getting a hurricane here in S Fla in the next few hours. I am as ready as I can be, but I am alone, and if the power goes out will not be able to manage, the aide will no doubt be a no show as well, I am registered with special needs shelter, but as of tonight I am home. I pray for all of us here we stay safe.

Pretty good. They went to relatives in Columbia. They had some roof shingles blow off and a few big branches fell, but didn't damage their property. Counting blessings :-}

traveljaff Hope you're okay. I know it's scary being alone. I have a childhood friend who lives in Florida and works at Disney World. She said they are closing the park today and that rarely happens. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Keep us updated if you can.

My daughter is supposed to fly to Orlando on Saturday for a cruise. I told her she was grounded and couldn't go. She's 27 ugh hopefully you don't get it bad either erash for yours and her sake!

Good idea for your daughter. Probably would be rough seas for a cruise dependent on where she's headed. Still not too bad here and I think the eye of the storm is almost passed us. Lucky break 👍

She was going to go to the Bahamas. I told her it wasn't on the map anymore. So they will probably go to jamaka and Mexico. I also informed her that l brought her into this world and no damn Matthew is taking her out! That's my job lol

Thanks, Erash. So happy to hear you're ok. Concerned for others along southern East Coast-especially SC and NC now. Seems the storm hasn't lost its punch yet. So sad. Hope everyone else in FL is ok. Power is out in a number of areas, so they most likely can't get on their computers to let us know. Continuing to pray...

Hey, Storm Now that Matthew has passed you by, I used to live in S. FL

before we moved to AZ a year ago. If you are disabled, you can, and should, register with your city, especially if you live alone. I don't recall if it's the police dept. or fire dept. or which agency it is, but they maintain a registry of all disabled citizens in case of emergency so that they can take you to a shelter or at least check on you. Call your local PD or FD and find out how it works and do it! We lived through Andrew and the 2005 Seven, and neither of us was disabled then. I can't imagine what it'd be like going through those now with MS. Be safe.
