I'm tired of wearing sneakers with dress slacks. Any comfortable, relatively supportive, flats that you might recommend? Not open toed. Don't look like I borrowed from my granny 😊

Shoe recommendations?
It's been quite a while since I bought shoes. However, when I did, I liked the selection at Clarks and The Walking Company if you have either of those stores. The employees were very helpful, too, in helping me find something I could use.
Morning Erash, I have found a very comfortable slip on shoe available through Amazon, called Fanatic . They are available in different colours, I have a rainbow coloured pair and a purple pair, they are nicely built up in the instep so it helps my drop foot. Cheers Jimeka
As stated in one of the above replies, Clarks has a great line of shoes. I have 4 pairs of their flip flops and they hold up very well (bought 3 years ago and live in FL so they are worn a lot). I haven't needed to buy any dress shoes since I stopped working. Another brand I heard good reviews about is Vionic and they are designed by a podiatrist.
From what I've seen, the Clarks are the best-looking and, from experience, I can say they're definitely well-made and comfortable. Unfortunately, they are a bit pricey - but well worth it! They have a website - clarksusa.com - and toll-free number - 1 (800) 211-5461, and they have a Labor Day sale going on right now. I particularly like some of the Mary Jane and T-strap styles and I also like the fact that most of the shoes with straps use velcro instaed of buckles.
Good luck with your search!
Anne
My preference is Clark. And you can find in many department store like Macys or even Marshall, Nordstron Outlet, etc. Outlets also have their own stores. I only use comfortable shoes, closed toe and good quality. Its better try in person if you are not familiar with specific brand.
Thank you all for your recommendations
Lol erash l can't help you on this one, l only wear Sketches tennis shoes. They have a great tread that l need in the winter. And my braces fit well in them, on top of they are long lasting.
I usually wear Ecco shoes or Geox or Clarks and Birkenstock in the summer. Look a bit better than real sneakers. I'm always upset about shoes too. I want to wear heels but I'm afrais to fall
Another vote for Carl's and Sketchers.
I enjoyed reading all your replies. I am new to MS. I have 1 pair of Skechers I can wear. Love all the suggestions. Can't wait to check them out. Feel like I've got steel rods on my feet. Lynn

I actually wear Altras. But again it's the sneaker look. Has Sketchers branched out to a dressier look? Sounds like I have many options. Will check them out. Thank you
Hi erash . Try Skechers. They have some beautiful shoes with support. That's about all I wear.
Found a great pair of flats by Clarksville at a discount shoe store. So comfortable and look nice
Erash, hi it's Fancy1959. The first thing I want to mention to you is that every body's foot is different and the requirements your shoe must fulfill is also different. I have a wide foot and my idea of a high heel is a heel 2 inches tall! Also, since my balance is seriously compromised I need a shoe that fits snugly and promotes stability in my gait. Having said all this I wear a lot of Bear Traps and Life Stride, i found some Ann Klein dress sandals on clearance with a low heel and they felt awesome on. So, naturally i had track them down in a variety of colors. I have to stay away from shoes and sandals without a back strap on them as I usually try to break some significant bone in my body as I fall off of them. In. I also watch to make sure my shoes have a nonslip tried on the bottom of them. In the winter I look for boots with a lot of insulation, as I have Renardi Syndrome in my feet and hands, and a heavy tread to help navigate snow and ice. As several others have mentioned go to a nice shoe or department store and spend some time simply trying shoes on. Macy's have a nice variety and I love to shop Elder Beerman's but they might be more regional. Don't through those tennies away just get a pair or two dress up in! Happy shopping!,
For quite some time, I have had to find shoes that are flat, have a way to ensure that I don't literally, walk out of them (straps aka Mary Janes or a vamp that encloses most of my foot), and the sole of which are thin enough to help with the loss of proprioception. When I find a pair that works, I usually get two pairs. Zappo's has been a life-changing resource for this! I search and order, and returns are free. I get two pairs because companies change their selections all the time! I still have a pair of Puma flats that's 5 years old, but I can't find anything similar anymore. They are flat, have an elastic band and are actually cute. On pity-party days, I lament the loss of the ability to wear fancy shoes. Press on and give Zappo's a try. A bonus is that you don't have to schlep to a mall(s)...
I too have shoe issues. They absolutely must be light weight. My legs & feet feel "heavy" enough without adding a heavy shoe. Try the crocs.com site. They have a huge variety from flip flops, to casual, to dressy. I always shop the sale section first. They've actually allowed me to wear heels in the form of a wedge design. I haven't felt wobbly on them & never fallen.
The light weight of them allows me to pick my foot and leg up easily so no issue with dragging my toes or foot drop.
Check out doing your shopping online, returns are simple & easy.
SAS brand shoes work great for me. But, they are expensive!
@erash Merrill shoes are awesome, but I discovered MBT shoes keep my calf from burning stabbing hurting. MBTs are rocker shoes so some may not be able to wear them, but they are the only shoes that keep my legs from hurting. New cost about $190. I found my first pair at goodwill for $50 and wore them 7ntil the rubber rotted. My daughter told me to go to eBay. So thankful 8 did. MBT makes an adorable Mary Jane style. I wear the sandals because I have arthritic cysts near by big toe joint so always swollen. I can’t wear closed in shoes. Happened from a bad fall 2 years ago. Merrill makes a Mary Jane style also. My daughter is a respiratory therapist on her feet at hospital for 12 hours, sometimes standing for 3 hours in one spot saving a persons life and she only wears the Merrill’s, mule type shoes. Whatever, I would check out eBay because both brands are quite expensive. Wishing you the best. Oh, and Clark’s are good.
Eastland shoes: Pricey but last forever..dont break down, they have slip ons also.At first I thought it was gonna be a granny shoe but(proud to be a granny!) these are fine shoes that actually id have resoled if ever the need be.I put them on and feel stable.Hard toes and any return no questions..I also when I find a pair I like elsewhere...superfeet inserts are amazing. They look like cheap but ive tried other brands similar...not same. They are on amazon at their cheapest. I have a size 6 shoe and like snug support but get a 5 in superfeet now for all shoes.best wishes..
Drew Orchid and Munroe shoes actually fit my AFO.
