I have been fighting bladder issues for years. Sometimes I get an infection from incomplete voiding and Dr prescribes antibiotics which don't always work. My best friend from childhood recommended 1 tbsp baking soda in a glass of water three tines a day to change the Ph in ny body. It worked! Natural cures sometimes are the answer.

Bladder infections
That's a really good idea. I had had uti's all the time and started eating dried cranberries everyday , haven't had one since. Definitely something to be said about home remedies.
You can get it in capsules and make it easier.

Good to know. I'm going to try that. I'm having the same problem. I've been getting 2 or 3 UTIs a year. My first symptom is my legs aren't working as well, then I start getting super fatigued, even before I have any bladder symptoms. I fear I'm going into a relapse. I called my neurologist to ask for some steroids once and he suggested I do a UA first to make sure it isn't a UTI. Lo and behold -- it was. Which is preferable to a full blown relapse because at least that can be fixed with antibiotics, then my symptoms improve. I take 2 cranberry & mannose capsules every night but I still get a couple of infections a year and it's such a nuisance. Thanks for the tip!
I was having trouble for years emptying my bladder , up at least 4 times a night. I went to a Urologist ,they had me test to see how much was being left behind and now I self+cath and I can sleep all night now. So much better.
Hi Elle - This is an old post but I went looking for this subject and found it again. I have been taking mannose and cranberry every day and it seemed to help some, but I still get up 4 times a night. And, right now I'm afraid I have another UTI. My bladder feels a little irritated, but . . . I started Dr. Wahls diet and have been doing better -- walking speed has increased and I have much less weakness, fatigue and brain fog. But now my bladder is feeling irritated and suddenly my symptoms have flared. I think I need to see a urologist. Do you just cath before bedtime or several times a day? Was it hard to get used to doing?
Hi Kerry, I cath several times a day now , it wasn't hard to learn. I'm so glad I do it now except for the occasional infection, I just read someones post that said 1 Tbsp in a glass of water 3 times a day help with Bladder infections .
thanks. I guess I'm wondering if you have less UTIs since you've started cathing. I'm getting 3 or 4 of them a year, and no matter how good I'm getting along with my MS symptoms, that all goes down the toilet when I get a UTI and no matter what I do there doesn't seem to be any avoiding them. It's very upsetting. I heard it was good to take mannose so I started doing that to prevent them and it seemed like it worked. I've gone 6 month without a UTI. But now I think I have another one. I tried the baking soda 3 times a day. It helped with the feeling of irritation because it make the bladder less acidic. But if you have an infection it doesn't kill it. I love my primary care doc. He's very supportive but he seems baffled too. And my neurologist is in another state so it's not easy to check in with him. I think I just need to refer myself to a urologist! My PCP did a renal US and a post void residual and I had a little but only 59mls so he wasn't concerned. I'm just not sure what to do.
