Hi does anyone have any information about a cervical inlet patch. I have just been diagnosed with one. Can you recommend any treatment for it?
Cervical inlet patch : Hi does anyone... - Cervical Myelopathy
Cervical inlet patch
I have done a quick Google on it from what I can work out a cervical inlet patch is a small area of tissue that makes up the lining of the oesophagus appears higher up the throat than it should be. This tissue type produces mucus to lubricate the oesophagus to help foods go down. The tissue produces this mucus and in turn this mucus produces the sensations in the throat.
Vocalzone lozenges might help break down the mucus which might reduce the sensation of a lump in the throat.
You might be offered other treatment which can stop mucus production in the cervical inlet patch.
This is what I've deduced from searching this. Speak to your doctor, ENT will give you best advice.
Thank you for the info Joeskid - it's something I've not heard of before. But many members in the FB group Myelopathy Support certainly have problems with swallowing &/or choking - me included.
