Have any of you had your condition very long? I am curious how long before

somebody starts to get paralized? That is if they do. I am 79 so guess I

really should not be so concerned at my age.

I've had cord compression three times; at 44, 45, 48 and had three operations to prevent paralysis. I think my story is very similar to lots of myeopathy sufferers. We have one member who is paralysed but I'm unsure of her age.

Thanks so much for your reply.

I've had the condition about 9 yrs now. You can feel yourself getting weaker and weaker. the pain increasing. It's a sign your spinal canal is being blocked . That's in my experience. you can feel things slowly changing. Big hugs. X

Thanks much. Besides your pain what other symptoms do you have? My main problem is constant dizziness/lightheaded. Have to use a rollator to hold on to so I don't fall. No pain thankfully. Have a great day.

I have had mine for 30 years including undiagnosed until 15 years ago. I also have atrophy. Off to see neurosurgeon in Glasgow today.

I had cervical stenosis for 7 years before it got diagnosed. I took me tripping and falling 3 times before it got severe. My hands went numb, severe neck pain and right leg was spastic after the 3rd fall. Then the doctor finally thought something was wrong besides that he kept telling me I had fibromyalgia. I was 51 years old. I was scared to get paralyzed so I had surgery. Whatever you do, do not get a laminectomy. I did and I have had nothing but pain and regret that I did it. I had an acdf and laminectomy at the same time. The laminectomy still is painful after 16 months post op. ACDF was not bad at all. Only your doctor can tell you how bad your condition is. I would get 2 or 3 opinions before surgery was done.
