Well I know for a fact I am very very sensitive to heat, any changes and I usually break out, and I live in California so the temp where I live stays around 60 degrees. I would suggest maybe before you sleep putting on Vaseline, you may hate the texture but I found it help keeps you moisturized through the night. Although water may sting I know it hurts, sometimes really bad but the longer you stay in the bath or shower it stops stinging, and the water starts to moisturize but right after you get out you start to dry out like a sponge so it's best to put Vaseline on then. I hope I helped a bit..

Hi Thomas,

You really need to see a doctor. There are numerous skin conditions that can be aggravated or caused by sunlight. Some of these include rosacea, lupus erythematosus and polymorphic light eruption (PMLE).

Rosacea is a condition that mainly affects the face, but occasionally affects other areas such as the arms, neck and back. Sometimes it can make the face swell and ooze fluid. People with rosacea may develop small red spots and spots containing pus. It is worsened by heat and spicy food, and lotions/creams may make the skin sting and burn.

Rosacea: dermnetnz.org/acne/rosacea....

Lupus: dermnetnz.org/immune/cutane...

PMLE: dermnetnz.org/reactions/pml...

Hope this is of some use,

Shell.

Hi all, i was on holiday in lovely Dubrovnik, Croatia, summer 2012 and it was very hot. I developed an itchy rash (like tiny lumps just under skin) on arms, across neck, chest and upper back. I was unsure if I was photo-sensitive, reacting to sun cream, sea water or what, and neither was GP when I consulted her on return home. What we did agree on was that it was a mess and needed action. She recommended that i used a strong corticosteroid previously prescribed for persistent eczema for the worst bits, and a moderate version for the rest. It all cleared up pretty quickly in much cooler Scotland, but I now have some concerns about future heat seeking summer hols.

I have eczema since very young and it used to be much worse when I lived in Brazil. I never have very hot showers for the same reason... I guess more blood flow equals more allergens travelling around?!

My shoulders and chest burn and go very red following even a cool shower. I use Epederm SLS free grease as soon as I get dry. It is fine when I am drying myself, however within 10 to 15 minutes it burns and goes very red like bad sunburn. This pain will last for almost an hour before I can bear to put on a very light and baggy cotton shirt. I have been wearing these ghastly things since June 2013 and now really feel the cold when wearing them in the winter months. :-( I get a tingling sensation around these same areas of my body when I do any sort of exertion including bending down for my yoga practice. I cannot imagine what it would be like to do any sort of proper exercise like running etc. My specialist said he thought it was Rosacea and I have been on Lymecycline for almost 2 months and it was better for a while and now I am back to the same pain. I am also on Aterax antihistamine once a day. Stress does not help however, not being able to wear decent clothing, not having a drink of beer occasionally and also keeping away from any thing that is remotely spicy is really getting me down. Any thoughts anyone?
