Anyone with experience of Bowens Disease please
Hi,
I certainly do have experience of Bowens Disease. Having been treated for a squamous cell carcinoma on my leg in January of this year, I asked the dermatologist to check a patch on my hand that has been steadily growing for more than 10 years. It has turned out to be Bowens disease and the patch was treated using cryotherapy yesterday (ouch!).
There's lots of information on the internet and I was also given information sheets prepared by the British Association of Dermatologists. It;s basically a pre-cancerous condition that can be treated.
Kind regards,
AJ

Hi AJ
Thanks for the reply. I hope you are recovering well from your cryotherapy.
I have a patch on my leg which has been growing for nearly 4 years now. Doctors have treated it as eczma for 3 years. Tried every steriod cream but they just make it worse! I dont have any other eczma and have thought for some time it might be Bowens. Finally had to insist on referral to Dermatologist who said straight away it was more than likely to be Bowens Disease.
Im back for biopsy results next week so will find out if it is Bowens and if so how they are going to treat it. Its quite a large patch now so if I have to have cryotherapy may be in stages (joy!).
Best wishes

I have been diagnosed with Bowens Disease, I recently had the side of my face scraped, I have had the outside part of my bum scraped also but a year later, it's still there. I have an appointment tomorrow to have minor surgery, my consultant said : well, that's not from sun damage is it. ? I had a hard job convincing her that ''the sun shines out of my posterior.'' You couldn't make it up.
