Psoriasis flare

Hi

Has anyone had a flare up of Psoriasis for as long as 14 months ? I have several different kinds like nail, plaque, palmer pustula (sp) scalp and ear canals, I also believe I have it in my nose though apparently that is very rare. I just want to get out of this mess, this is my first flare as I was diagnosed two weeks after my shingles cleared up and then Psoriasis raised its head for the first time in my life, I am 64.

So 14 months ago this all started and despite gp treatments with many concoctions of meds the psoriasis is still going strong. I have a hospital apt but not until April, like every other department dermatology is swamped so the wait has been a while. I really just posted to see if 14 months is normal with no sign of improvement just more appearances each day. Thanks folks x

It could be caused by low estrogen rather than going on hrt you could try inositol which is a safe suppliment with estrogenic properties also you could try flaxseed oil or flaxseeds if you prefer - both are healthy natural potent phytoestrogens

Hi chazy, I have used an ointment prescribed by dermatologist called Taro-Clobetasol Propionate 0.05%. It worked well for me.

Oh thank you so much GrannyMe for the reply. When I do get to see a dermatologist I will bring that up, I am making notes ready for the apt which isn’t until April but will probably end up being August way apts are going, I think I’m going to go private as I would like to get this sorted asap. Will update when I finally see someone, thanks again 😀

Hi chazy, You can research the ointment's name on Google to see if it's right for you. I know getting appointment with a dermatologist is a long wait. In the meantime you might try a walk-in clinic (if you have one nearby) and that doctor could prescribe if you ask them. Good Luck.

Thank you Granny Me, I will certainly look it up, you never know it might be the something that might help, I really need something. We are only a small town, well just became a city lol 😂 but a city is a bit grand for the resources we have !! No walk in clinic here sadly, not much of anything extra really, even the Lymphoedema clinic is downsizing and they discharged me once I got psoriasis as I can’t comply because I can’t wrap my legs lol 😂 it’s just a joke really is. I am thinking seriously about going private to see a dermi, my Grandad would turn in his grave if he even thought I was thinking that, but I want this sorting now I mean it must be 16 months in a flare now and I think I may be starting with psoriatic arthritis too. Well here I am waffling on 😂 but really, thanks so much for the replies, it helps keep me sane knowing others care. Take care GrannyMe x
