I am a female of almost 50, in the last 8-10 weeks I have developed a severe unbearable itch at the front of my shoulder, doctors have done bloods, im using everything imaginable but nothing helps, its now spreading to my other shoulder and the last day or so I can feel my face starting to tingle, im awake at night scratching until I cry, ive tried cold wet towels (last night about 2am) but it didn't touch it, I cant get another docs appointment until 25/10 any suggestions greatly appreciated! Im trying the docs again today, as I just cant take much more.. p.s its also not the menopause apparently although im not coinvinced

I have no idea what it is or why it is. Generally when something like this happens, I try my own personal balms (like plantain or chickweed). If that doesn't work, try an antibiotic or an antifungal, separately, then combined. If that doesn't work, something like a steroid cream should calm the itching. Call your GP and see if they can prescribe something to tide you over until you can get back in there...
A trip to a skin specialist is possibly the next step forward if your doctor can't sort you out, try camoline lotion maybe, looks like you might of been painted with a coat of emulsion but if it stops the itching it may soothe the skin, and even try taking an antihistamine tablets from over the counter from that shop whose motto is every little helps, you don't need to have the branded version, normally they have the same active ingredients, good luck.
