I'm in my fifties and I have acne

I get acne mostly around my nose, mouth and chin. I don't suffer particularly badly, but I'd prefer to be rid of blemishes at my time of life. My skin doesn't have a major effect on my confidence, but I would feel better without having it.

I have tried any number of face washes and off-the-shelf treatments, but without any real success, so I'm looking for suggestions for treatments that have some chance of working.

I went to see my GP a few years ago, but I didn't feel she took me seriously. She prescribed Duac, which was quite effective at clearing spots, but other than that I haven't really tried changing diet or any other remedies.

Any suggestions or advice would be welcome.
