I have itching all over for three years now my skin scalp and genitals haive gone numb. I have brown spots that look like freckles all over my body, and larger red spits that scab over. I am losing my hair, and eyelashes and I have decreased urine output. I have scabs on my scalp, face and shoulders. I look like a monster! Five doctors have said it's not scabies and not to bworry. Also my nails have become very thick. I live with my two, daughters nd am terrified they will be infected tho they don't think theres a problem, one of them has some brown spots but she says they ate just freckles, the other has iexcema which has flared up in last three years. Again the doc says,no sign of scabies. I have. Two silvery lines on right hand they are tiny bit not sure if they are scars from previous scratches or burrows. My appearance has altered dramatically from this I have become a complete recluse as I am sp scared of infecting others.sp scared for my daughters. Can anyone advise me on what this could be if it's not scabies as I am going out of my mind with worry. Please help . Thank you .

Hi Sophie,

Your skin condition sounds severe, and you will probably need a skin biopsy to accurately diagnose it. Skin conditions are often difficult to diagnose as different conditions can sometimes look very much alike. Psoriasis, dermatitis and urticaria (hives) are sometimes mistaken for scabies.

As you are also experiencing other symptoms, e.g. decreased urine output, you really should see your doctor as soon as possible.

Here's a link to some information about scabies: dermnetnz.org/arthropods/sc...

Take care,

Shell.

Sophie, Not sure what you have, but it's definitely not scabies, rest assured, but do seek medical advise . Good luck,

Concil.

Hi sophie, your syptoms sound nothing like the mite responsible for scabies, I caught scabies of my grandkids, and the itch is sheer hell. For more information go to the scabies forum, hope this helps. Your's Concil.

I do have severe, itching, although my skin has become numb. Could thus be caused by scabies? I am so frightened.

Yes I,used it three years ago but not sure if,I managed to properly clean my environment so if it,is scabies could have been re,infested. Since, then the doctors have, all been saying,it's not scabies but,do not give me,any other, diagnosis so,I,dont know, what,it is but,I,know,it's something but does anyone perhaps, recognizetthese symptoms and possibly, give,me some, advice?

Hello, I realize this post is several years old 🥺 however, it’s the only time I’ve found anything so closely describing what I’ve been dealing with (for nearly three years at this point as well). The silver lines you described were a big flag for me as I have been all over the place trying to get an explanation. Like you, doctors haven’t been of any use. A few misdiagnosed as eczema and insisted on topical steroids which only created more problems later on 😡 anyway, I know everyone here is saying not scabies; however, I have not ruled out the possibility of other mites (you can basically disregard the whole “don’t worry they won’t inhabit humans along with a lot of other diagnostic “rule of thumb” that don’t necessarily hold true). I am looking at tropical rat and at chicken mites. Have you tried 1) shaving with benzoyl peroxide wash and following with a thorough scrub with a ketoconazole (Nizoral) sudsy washcloth? After showering toweling off from head (first) to toes (last) removing any exfoliated skin. Then apply coldpressed hexane-free castor oil mixed with pharmaceutical grade tea tree oil (about four drops to 1.5-2oz oil. Is a) amazing for the itching, b) seems to draw whatever these things are out so that later wen wiping skin with clean white gauze a number of gray microscopic flecks will gather on cloth. Like you I am perplexed about te “freckling” have you tried infrared (cocoon not sauna) I did this in the fall while covered in this oil and I started noticing these “freckles” seemed to dry up almost and eventually shed or flake off. I suspect some sort of fungal component. Lastly, at night I wash face with Hibiclens, and I then apply a mix of equal parts micro-retin A, clindamycin gel, terbinafine after which i notice dark red flecks appearing (I think these are mites of some sort). After that abates, I apply sqalane oil into which I have mixed two drops Alpha Arbutin/HA , three drops Niacinimide/Zinc PCA and just a tiny dot (approx 4mm) of 40% urea. Expect some stinging if you try but night and day NOT. Amonster anymore 😘 I really felt for you when I saw that. I feel like that a lot, I think the problem is a confluence of bacterial, fungal and yes, despite naysayers re scabies, acaricidal issues: c. Minitissimus (will fluoresce coral) and c. Tenuis (will fluoresce lemon-lime). I recently discovered by passing a large blacklight over my self and my SO (who has no discomfort/itching etc) that HE (and not I) lights up like jellyfish all over positive for the bacteria mentioned above, etc. I think my constant skin care makes me less burdened with UV-visible bacteria BUT there was definitely some ruddy and pale green glow about me too. We met shortly before my symptoms began so... anyway, case closed in ya regard 🤦🏻‍♀️ Hope you’re doing well. By the way, red light has also helped a lot to reduce inflammation and restore quality of skin. Please, let me know if you have discovered anything, too.
