Hi all just had another 2 biopsys for suspected melanoma had a confirmed melanoma removed 6 years ago the waiting is really awful have been told it could take up to 6 weeks for the results when I phoned my surgery for an appointment was told by the receptionist that " for a mole you just need to see the nurse" I explained that I have history of melanoma and she repeated for a mole you just need to see the nurse feeling a bit down and cheased off at the waiting time

There isn't much anyone can say except keep your chin up - the wait must be terrible, six weeks is a very long time for a melanoma biopsy. I had a more aggressive form of basal cell carcinoma ten years ago, and waiting for the biopsy results of suspected new ones is bad, for melanoma it must be worse so I can empathise up to a point.

The only thing I would say about having to see the nurse instead of a doctor is that, in my experience, sometimes the nurses are more knowledgeable than the doctors. Maybe it's because they specialise in a limited range of medical issues, I don't know, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. That said, I can understand why you feel like you're being fobbed off!
