Porokeratosis

I was diagnosed with this after my second child, 9 years ago. Over the last year the lesions have multiplied on my legs. Dermatologist tells me each time there is no cure, and it's only superficial. However it's stopping me wearing dresses and shorts, and I have skin envy! Anyone else with this condition had any successful results???

Hi I just googled porokeratosis and saw from my search there are different types and eventually got to a patient info leaflet for actinic keratosis on the British Dermatology Asscn site which suggested possible treatments. Not sure if these would apply in your case and my apologies if you have already ruled this out. Good luck with persuading your dermatologist to try something rather than 'nothing can be done'.

Oh bless you for doing that… Yes I have tried so many creams over the years, but nothing has worked. I also belong to the DSAP yahoo group and it seems the same old story here in the UK…. As the weather warms up I feel uncomfortable as I am so conscious of my legs.. I have learnt to quickly say it is a reaction to the sun and not catching!!! I will keep looking out there for the miracle cream!

I will look into that Emma. Quick search and it does seem to have a number of benefits. I have recently been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and it seems to work well on muscle and joint soreness/inflammation….

Hello HevJ. I have DSAP. Diagnosed 13 years ago and never told to avoid the sun consequently arms and legs, top of shoulders and jaw line now have multiple lesions, more prevalent on the limbs and some are very big. Dermatologists here are less than useless and unwilling to use NHS funds for a condition the regard as cosmetic. If they had it perhaps they wouldn't view it this way. I have had some frozen off with good results and they didn't come back. That leaves a little white pigmentation mark which, in my opinion is better than a red lesion. I use Calendular cream and Rose hip oil to moisturise and wear a cover up make up to hide my skin. Estee Lauder double wear for legs and body. I still go in the sun early mornings and late afternoons; staying out of at the hottest times. Always use SPF 50. We need the sun so I get some Vitamin D this way. Billy. UK

Hi, are you still suffering with Rosacea? I've found that Forever aloe gelly and propolis creme works combined with drinking their aloe berry nectar or bits and peaches inner leaf gel. I'd be happy to consult with you if you would like further information, Rachael. rachaelguest@googlemail.com
