It's been 2 years. The steroid cream i was told to use for 6 weeks on my penis for thrush has left me with thin tender skin. I still can't wear clothes or underwear which means I still can't leave my house, and as for inimacy with my partner it is impossible. My quality of life is really bad, what kind of future will i have. Is there anything that I can do to repair the skin. And is there any real hope?

Is this thinned skin forever. Or will it ever recover. I feel so desperate.
Hi Ollie-34,
There are some questions I have relating to this situation to clarify what has happened. You say you had thrush. How come you were given a steroid? Thrush is treated with an anti fungal agent, not a steroid. If it was an eczematous reaction rather than thrush, then a steroid and a moisturiser are the treatments of choice. The penile skin is usually very robust and using even a super potent steroid for prolonged periods does not usually have any adverse issues wrt skin thinning. The picture is therefore far from clear. I think the best thing is to see a dermatologist, get a definite diagnosis, then treat appropriately. If you are still symptomatic, it is quite possible the original problem has not resolved, you may have had a sensitivity reaction to one of the creams used to help, or something else even! Best see the expert for the problem to be assessed. I would be very confident this should be resolved for you, so don't panic. Good luck!

Please don't despair. Your skin cells will regenerate after steroid treatment eventually unless there is underlying difficulty. so as above I would return to GP and get referal to dermatology.
Have you tried a penis health creme? These cremes are designed specifically for the penis and help strengthen and rejuvenate the skin. I use one of these cremes and I love it. Give it a try man. It might help you out. Good luck.
Whats about your skin now? Is it repaired or not I have the same issue
How is it doing now? I have the same problem. It's really affected me psychologically
Hi,
Don’t know if anyone will see this but I’ve been dealing with the same problem for years, unfortunately. Idiot doctors that prescribe something without telling you about life-altering side effects.
I go up and down in terms of things being okay and then not. I’ve sort of accepted that this will be a life-long struggle. Creams I use are Bionect, and Calendula.
I’ve tried homeopathy, Chinese herbs, you name it. I feel like I’m running out of options.
I would recommend trying to find a provider that really wants to work with you and be your champion, because there is no easy solution.
Another thing to consider is a sex therapist for the mental aspect of this and figuring out how to work with what’s going on.
