I only sleep for about 3 hours each night and each morning I wake up really sore all over, it never seems to get even slightly better
I have been on TSW for 7 months now and would like... - MY SKIN
I have been on TSW for 7 months now and would like to know when does it get even slightly better
What is TSW?
Enroll for the Art Of Living Happiness program! It will help you tremendously. Wishes!!
I am also wondering what TSW is but have you gone back to your doctor/consultant/specialist to let them know that 7 months on the remedy or treatment is not being effective for you?
sometimes we have to be persistent about getting the right treatment
Good luck
All that I have come up with, is Topical Steroid Withdrawal. Is that what you are talking about Hazel?
You need to see your doctor and if you aren't already seeing a Specialist, you ought to ask to be referred. Good luck!
TSW means Topical Steroid Withdrawal, also known as red skin syndrome or steroid induced eczema. If you visit the ITSAN website you can find out more information but basically the skin becomes addicted to the topical steroid creams used to treat eczema, resulting in a massive flare once the medication is stopped - this become a nasty cycle of using more cream and upping the strength but all in all it gets to the point where the skin doesn't get better from the topical steroid treatment, it gets worse! Unfortunately the only cure for it is to go through a long, painful withdrawal which can take months - years but many who have gone through it gain healthy skin again. A lot of doctors won't acknowledge TSW though it is becoming more and more well known . My 8year old daughter is now 7.5 months into her withdrawal and we are just starting to see some great signs of her skin healing and all without the use of topical steroid creams!!! Well done hazelwebb, you are doing great and I know from seeing what my daughter is going through that it is a rough ride. There are a lot of blogs with information on Topical Steroid Withdrawal and as I said please also visit the ITSAN website or google the reports of Dr. Marvin Rapaport .
Keep strong and remember everyday is a step nearer x
Hi Hazel, I've just reached month 8 and suffering a lot. The only thing that had helped me with sleep is amytryptilene, which is a sedative antidepressant, and although I don't really want to be on medication, for me, this means i get 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep which is a must. I can so so sympathise, its so awful not sleeping and being all over sore. My oozing has stopped but the itch is unbearable and my skin is still a mess. Its hard to keep going, but I haven't come this far to give in, and my skin has changed and i can tell there is a process taking place. I just want one day to be able to put make up on and feel all fresh and lovely. Might be a few months yet. Hold in there. We can do it x x
Hello!
Are you using moisturizers? Do you wash your skin with soap?
I'm also suffering od TSW right now. I have been doing it now for 6 months.. My skin is getting better.. but slowly.
I read that TSW could last from 4 months to 3 years. Everything depends how long you used the topical steroids and of course every skin is different. I Would like to know how you are doing now?
I Wish all the best for you.
Hello if your moisturising it takes a lot longer. Tsw is years not months. If you stop moisturising it will be faster after the initial 4-6 weeks... the other cheating option is cyclosporine for 6-8 weeks with 2 blood test to check the level of the UREA (kidneys) taper off and it may reset your immune. Worked for me
