I was diagnosed with "Interstitial Cystitis last year. I had a bladder distension, but it has not helped. Does anyone have any suggestion

My diet needs to be balanced. If I consume foods that are too acidic, it definitely provokes my pain.

Sounds awful, in2korn. The following information might help:

NHS: Cystitis - Complications nhs.uk/Conditions/Cystitis/...

Interstitial Cystitis Association (ICA): Interstitial Cystitis and Diet (PDF) ichelp.org/document.doc?id=266

ICA: Diagnosis & Treatment ichelp.org/page.aspx?pid=567

Hope you find something that works for you.

I was diagnosed with this condition in 1998, following a cystoscopy and bladder distension I was given two chemotherapy treatments, the first gave some relief for a couple of weeks and the second did not help at all. Another bladder distension followed and I was told that things were so bad that I would need to have my bladder removed. However, I decided to try an old-fashioned treatment for Cystitis (even though this condition has major differences). Drink a third of a teaspoon of Bicarbonate of Soda in hot water three times a day, as things improved I gradually reduced this and now some years on I only take this if I notice the symptoms returning. At its worst my bladder could only hold one quarter of a pint of liquid and I was visiting the toilet around 65 times per day. My consultant could not believe the improvement in my condition. This works because it reduces the acidity in much the same way as altering the diet but seems to have a greater effect. It may not work for everyone but it was like a miracle for me and my consultant has passed this on to other patients. Good luck.
