I am convinced I acted on a thought. Anybody experience something similar? I’m at the end of my rope!

I’m desperate to know if anyone else gets thoughts while in the moment that tell you that you are doing something inappropriately? I feel so alone and I’m shutting down completely. Is this a form of intrusive thoughts that make you think you are acting on it at the moment? Anybody relate? “I had another incident last night her hand was touching my arm. I got worried again and then the thought of just letting it be there in an inappropriate way. And I did I think let it be there inappropriately for a second. I really don’t know what the thoughts were. And she only had her hand on my arm. Now I feel hopeless like I acted on it and kinda don’t want to go on”

Hi. This is just my opinion, but I think we all have certain things we are uncomfortable doing or seeing or feeling, etc. When something happens that we don't like, we may question it, because it is confusing to feel. That is my general thought, but could play into OCD as well, not sure.

I think worries about what's happening, can be OCD. Like thoughts become so heightened, especially in the moment, that we may think we're doing something wrong, when we're really not; OCD makes us doubt.

You didn't act on anything. The OCD is "telling" you that you did. It may have been an uncomfortable situation, but whatever you really feel about what happened, is your core belief. So, you did not do anything you didn't want to do, even if it felt that way. It's the OCD.

hello,

Know that OCD is a lier. I have had moments where I was fearful and ocd was so loud. I tried walking away from doing compulsions and ocd just got louder. To a point that it had me convinced the fear actually came true. Being able to recognize that feeling of feeling it actually happened vs ocd being loud really helped.

This is classic Pure O. In youtube, type "The Treatment of the Pure Obsessional and Other Matters:An evening with Dr Steven Phillipson". There are ten videos. After watching the first you can paste the same thing into the search bar accept have "part 2" at the end, etc.

It's just mental garbage. Don't try and fight it off, say "you can have all the space you need". When you say that, you focus on doing something constructive despite the thought being there. This is a challenge to overcome, but OCD is not an incurable disease. You can do this.

Also look into "Brain Lock" by Jeffrey Schwartz- another classic.

If you were inappropriate the thoughts wouldn't make you guilty. You'd be seeking these experiences.
