Tips For Coping With OCD During the Holidays! #WellnessWednesday :)

1. Keep pace with your treatment even during the holiday season. Do not let holiday fun, or even stress, get in the way of your OCD treatment.

2. Holidays are filled with opportunities to FACE YOUR FEAR/Anxiety. Talk to that family member you haven’t spoken to in a while, help with the messy cooking, shower once because aunt Kathy and her kids also need the bathroom.

3. Try to limit approval and reassurance seeking. Remember there’s no need to start confessing and give in to the OCD

4. Watch your alcohol intake, especially if you’re on OCD medication.

5. ENJOY THE HOLIDAYS! Remember that it’s time with family that matters the most. Do not let OCD take that time away from you.

What are some of your tips for conquering OCD during the holidays?

Great tips, Bethsy! I would say don't be afraid to find a quiet place for a moment to check in with yourself.

I also like designating someone ahead of time to whom I will reach out via text or phone call if things get rough! It's worked well with both people who are going through similar things and understand, and also caring/helpful but perhaps "unaffected" friends :-).
