Hello. I suffer from ocd. Currently I value accomplishment over enjoyment. I want to feel accomplishment, but also want to enjoy life. I was wondering if anyone else deals with this?

On bad days, I value accomplishment over enjoyment as well.

I know exactly what you are talking about. The act of enjoying life with OCD is exceedingly difficult.

It's a daily thing w/ me. There are things that have to be accomplished whether I want to or not before I can do the things that I enjoy. There is satisfaction w/ each accomplishment.

This is a very interesting twist; I never realized that valuing accomplishment over enjoyment is, in fact, a symptom of my OCD. Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention. It is very timely, indeed, because I have been ruminating about undergoing yet another university degree at age 69. Now, I have to ask myself if this is a compulsion in response to my obsession with accomplishment over enjoyment. I could be enjoying my retirement in other ways, but I am fixated on further work and study projects. I need to think about this! Sheila
