Does anyone produce copious amounts of saliva?

Does anyone have a jaw that freezes up and feels like it's swollen

(like an allergic reaction)?

Hello,

Yes, my wife dribbles a lot, just another feature of MSA that we have got used to.

There are a lot of things that we just accept now although jaw freezing is not one of them.

Take care

Hello, I see you've only recently diagnosed with MSA in March of this year. As always you're very welcome here albeit it's a shame that you need to be! You may not yet be fully aware of the MSA Trust here in the UK (msatrust.org.uk) who offer a wealth of advice to those living with MSA.

Saliva issues are luckily one thing that my Jackie doesn't have to manage (hopefully it stays that way). There is however a very useful factsheet on the MSA Trust web site about saliva control. It may be found here msatrust.org.uk/wp-content/...

I hope this helps,

Take care, Ian

Yes, drool city with me! i choke rather a lot and, my pillow is soaking in the morning.

Speech and language therapist helped me with an app that train your body to swallow as us MSA lot forget to do this. She's also helping with voice banking too.

yes my husband Phil does. He has been prescribed10ml Atropine 1% eye drops. He uses 1-2 drops into the mouth as needed to control excess saliva… and yes you have read this correctly, it is eye drops!! Don’t ask me why they work but they do. The speech and language team recommended the use of them. Take care x

Hi my father had lots of saliva, he was prescribed a medication to dry it up and was also advised to drink more water, or in his case, have more flushes through his peg.
