later this month I’m having a sleep study and don’t know what to expect. My husband says I snore and he thinks I stop breathing. Does anyone have experience of this? X

Sleep Study

yes, I underwent a sleep study and on average I stop breathing 32 times per hour. I’ve now a further appointment to be fitted with a machine / pump to assist my breathing while I sleep.
Alec
thank you 🙏🏼
I have had a sleep study test. They gave me a monitor which you strap round your chest just before you go to sleep. I handed it back in the following day and when I saw my consultant I said I expected the results were negative. "Oh no he said, you have Sleep Apnea. You stopped breathing on average 28 times per hour". The result should be no higher than 7. I was astonished because I don't snore (unless I'm drunk). I was seeing him for a constant cough and chest infections. I got medication for the constant cough, a nasal spray Mometasone Furoate and Montelukast 10mg tablets, one to be taken at night. As the cough cleared up within a week he thought I could get by without having to use a cpap machine. Good luck with your tests 👍
Hello , I'm Jacqueline and carer for my husband with MSA .I'll always be the one posting or commenting ..We very recently attended an appointment relating to his sleeping, snoring ( he used to have very vivid dreams ,sometimes 'acting out ' by talking and movements)
They carried out a peak cough flow test which showed him to have limited chest wall movement. He's being admitted into a sleep clinic for a few nights to conduct test and trail a mask to wear to bed but concerns due to weakness he has developed in his hand whether it will work as he needs to be able to remove the mask when he needs to .
There are concerns of sleep apnea .
He was issued the machine in the earlier stages of his diagnosis and felt then he didn't need it ,so returned it . Evidently moving forward his condition has deteriorated so will now retrail .
I believe they said it is difficult for patients with MSA to use it but will try all the same whilst at the clinic overnight, you be attached to a monitor to check your peak flow ,brain activity whilst asleep and if any long pausing /stop of breathing
( sleep apnea)
I’m usually tone deaf! 😂
