Hi we’re having our bathroom changed to a wet room and I mentioned to the plumbers who are doing the work that Phil is VAT exempt. They are bringing the form to fill in.

Sorry cant help with where to get form. We had the same problem, a chap came and designed bathroom and when i said we didn't intend to pay VAT he said he knew nothing as he dealt with architects. I then visited builders merchants to ask the question to no avail. Finally found a chap who dealt mainly with disabled bathrooms. He did the paperwork and saved us well over £1,000.

I think maybe start with enquiring at VAT office.

The finished bathroom/wetroom was a blessing.

Don't forget for the duration of the patient's life you can get a discount on council tax too.

Good luck. Courage. Xx Alex

I didn’t know about council tax reduction do I just inform our local council tax of Pete condition.

Council tax reduction is because you've had alterations for disability done. On my husband's death that reduction was removed.

We did a mix of forms I filled in when I bought some of the supplies and ones that the contractor did for us.

Hope it goes well.

Hi Sue

Copy and paste this into your internet browser and it should take you directly to the form :

assets.publishing.service.g...

Hope it works - if not you can download it from the .gov website

The form is really easy to use.

Take care

Sharon

Hello Sue, if you are using a contractor to do the work they can take the VAT off your invoice and the HMRC accept the deduction that way. You can also get VAT deducted for fixtures and fittings that are for accessibility for the disabled. Our bathroom supplier again deducted it from their invoice to us. I didn’t have to fill in forms but did have to give my husband’s condition and also a DS1500 form he got from the GP. Hope that helps, Kaz
