Through the Floor lift

Good morning, due to deterioration and to prevent my husband falling down the stairs, I now need to put a through the floor lift into my home. I require it to accommodate a wheelchair. Has anyone any recommendations/advice as to which supplier I should look at?

I only have one pot of funds so I need to get it right first time.

I have never posted on this site before but I have been inspired and have felt supported reading your posts.

Stay strong everyone. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Hi,

We had a Wessex through the floor lift system fitted and it was totally reliable with excellent back up services.

They are not the cheapest, but we were lucky in getting a grant from the council to help with the cost.

Check out your local council for aid.

The grants are means-tested.

Another idea to consider is changing a room downstairs into a bedroom with wash facilities, depending on your building.

Hope this helps.

MSA Trust may also know of other companies and aid.

Make sure you have a backup system in place as a breakdown could be a problem!

We have a Pollocks lift which is a traction lift not hydraulic. It has been great and we had a service contract with a local firm who also provide the emergency cover for it. Get the largest size that you can fit into your space in case you need a more substantial wheelchair later on. We loved having it and being able to come upstairs for bed and toilet etc!

Happy to answer any more questions.

Hello, welcome 🤗 stiltz.co.uk/ These have good ratings. I can’t personally recommend them as we have a downstairs bedroom & wet room so haven’t needed a through floor lift. We are also moving to a bungalow ( we need to downsize). Hope you get something sorted soon. Everyone on here will be able to give you help and advise. We all share our experiences and anything useful whenever possible. 😊

Huge thank you to everyone who has given me advice. It’s very much appreciated. I live in a listed building and I’m now waiting for the local council to visit and give advice on what I can/cannot do. Kindest regards to all who have been visited by this terrible disease. Stay strong and carry on. 🙏🏻
