Does anyone have experience of selecting and installation of a through the floor lift?
It would be a ground floor to first floor lift capable of taking an NHS Sunrise Salsa M2 Mini powered wheelchair weighing 100kg.
My research has taken me to many potential suppliers but reports of poor installation problems and even having to call out the fire service to free a stuck lift worries me.
Sorry not to have any specific advice as we have a superb stair lift up tight stairs in Devon. However we do have a friend who had a through the floor lift and it was excellent. He had no option but to have that type of lift due to the age of the house but it worked marvellously for him, from what I'm with aware no issues at all.
Have you involved the OT's in your decision as they should have some experience with various suppliers in your area. We find that if you ask for specific recommendations they are reluctant, but if you say "which one would you fit for your mum or dad" they are a bit more forthcoming!
We have a pollock traction lift which was supplied by Pollock Second hand and they gave us a name of a company that worked with them in our area to do the work making the hole through the floor. Then another local company fitted the lift and provided the warranty cover. Once the warranty ran out then we got a maintenance contract with the same company. If there is an emergency then there is a 24 hour phone line and they can talk you through the issue and will come out ASAP if someone is stuck. The only problem we ever had was dealt with by them talking me through it over the phone. Send me a direct message if you want any more details.
Hi we installed a through floorlift to take a wheelchair. It was through a cement first floor and we found Stillz to be the only company who would do the preparation work and the installation themselves.
I will admit it was a big job and it took a full week but it’s been worth it. I would recommend them
Wed had a wheelchair through floor lift fitted and supplied by Wessex lifts. Luckily this was funded by the council. They were not cheap but the quality was superb. It was neat and reliable.
If you are buying one using your own money go second hand as people can't give them away!
There are a couple of businesses on social media and eBay that specialise in them and ask for references.
