Cramps and low sodium

I have advanced msa with all the normal sign and suptoms including dystonia leading to curling of the toes amongst a whole host of other issues. Recently I have had big problems with critically low sodium on blood tests (121mg)) . Initially I was admitted to hosspital and was dropped with salt solution but after no sleep for 2 days and nights I was deteriorating and negotiated my release home on salt tablets and a diet of salty snacks . My sodium rose to normal but fell away to a critical level quite soon (122mg) I won’t go back to hospital again ever .

I am suffering really painful cramps I one leg my left and my left arm is very weak and in ordinated I have torticollis with a painful neck . Generally I am very weak and can’t move

Are these symptoms of sodium deficiency nnd can j hope they will improve if I can get the sodium levels right?

Or are they part of msa the disease which keeps on giving?

Hoping someone will have experience of this though I hope not personally as

it is awful to live through .

Sorry B if this is full of typo I vant type easily nd my sights too blurry to check it !! 😊😃

Hi Orla. I wish I knew enough to answer your questions because it sounds as if you're rather in the wars. The only thing I can suggest is to call one of the trust nùrses the officeis open on Tuesday. If you caĺl early a.m. and find the line busy well, sorry, that'll be me!! Funnily enough I'm going to have a chat to find out if what ive been blaming on arthritis ìn my toes is in fact dystonia and is it due to MSA. I think sometimes we swear under ou breath (or perhaps not under our breath!) Then we blame it on MSA and just put up with it. I suspect a lot of the tìme we don't say anything for fear of distressing our families even further. At least we can always come on here and know there'll be someone who knows what we're going through.

As for typo's forget it. I made my living for 40+yrs on my very fàst typiñg and shorthand, my exceptional memory and my organisational skills. Ha! You can see how bad my týpiñg is now, I use the wrong wordß because I can't remember the right oñe and as for òrgàñising anything well the phrase about a brewery covèrs it pretty well.

Sorry I've rambled on but what else can ýoù do when its 5am añd you've not got to sleep yet for the 2nd night running. Nevèr mind those siģns saying "Sànta stop heŕe" I'm gonna change it to reaď "Mr Sandman stop here". Keep yŕ chin up anď good luck with the nurse.

Sue xx
