Hello everyone: How’s your Christmas going?

Happy Christmas to all, may you have as good a Christmas as possible in your particular circumstances in this very different year.

Jackie and I have been shielding throughout the year but we do have an existing bubble with Jax’s 92 year old mum who has come for three days. The advice in the kitchen helped considerably (honestly!) as this is the first Christmas dinner I had to do on my own. I still can’t quite understand the mystique behind the Christmas dinner gravy, what’s all the fuss about!

It was also very rewarding having someone else to cook for who ate very well. I think it would be quite demoralising to cook just for Jax and I as Jackie has a relatively small appetite. I know many will be doing just with many partners not being able to eat solid food at all - my heart and thoughts go out to you.

Let’s all look forward to the year ahead, I hope, like us, you will put a fist up to MSA and do everything you can to enjoy 2021.

Take care, Ian & Jackie.

Hi Ian and Jackie

Glad you've all had a good day and well done you for chefing! I also had the scary honor of cooking for P and I who still has a decent appetite and manages. Although it was very much a case of heating up rather than actually cooking courtesy of M&S! I did wimp out of doing it all myself I won't lie.

I hope everyone's had as good a day as they can, and are relaxing now.

Heres hoping the world looks a little calmer in 2021 and my best to you and Jackie Ian and everyone on the forum.

I was in bit of a quandary over what to do for Christmas as you may have seen but in the end decided that as both of my daughters had been isolating anyway, the children had been kept off school that we would all meet on Christmas Eve as planned. This was Hubby's wish to be with his family. Apart from my oven breaking halfway through cooking the turkey and having to rush it to my daughter's, who luckily lives just 5 minutes away, it was a lovely day and a beautiful memory. Hubby got to meet our new three week old granddaughter, we had trouble getting her back off him they were very cozy on his bed. I'm really glad we did this because Christmas Day was a completely different story and ended with him being admitted to hospital last night at 10:30 with an infection. He seems well and is responding to the antibiotics and should be back home on Monday.I'm really happy that you managed to have good day.

It’s great that you got together. I think we all have to make our own decisions on these things and I’m delighted that it worked for you. Just sorry Christmas Day wasn’t as good. Hopefully hubby will be back home soon.

Take care, Ian

Hello Ian & Jackie,

Happy Christmas everyone.

Yes I'm also a new cook without my wings (yet).

Christmas dinner was surprisingly good. I picked a temperature for the oven and everything went in at that . Kept tasting things to make sure it was all ok and I was pretty full by the time we were ready to eat.

I hope Christmas day went ok for you all and it's a bit early but Happy New Year.

Let's brace ourselves for next years challenges with a smile.

What do they say " Keep calm and carry on" from what I've read on the forum that's exactly what you do, well done everyone for coping with everything...... it can't be easy.

Well done with Xmas dinner! They say that to keep tasting things is the secret - Jackie also used to like having a sherry when she was cooking (the only time Jax drank sherry). There’s many a time she served the first course up a little tipsy!!

Enjoy Christmas week and the New Year. Take care, Ian

Hi Ian & Jackie, Thanks for thinking to message everybody. Seasons greetings! Dad managed to put away a fair amount of blended Xmas pud. So that's a win!Kxx
