Besremi works

So pre-Christmas my consultant at Guy's suggested I might go on Besremi to try to normalise my blood counts (platelets over 1000, WBCs all high). I have MF with grade 3 fibrosis but aside from fatigue I am asymptomatic. Having read all about Besremi side effects I was a bit concerned. However, after a lot of thinking and the possibility it could potentially delay progression as well as delivery the benefits of haematological remission, I decided to go for it. Three injections in (6 weeks) and blood counts are responding and I have had no adverse side effects so I'm pretty pleased. My only concern is my RBC and haemoglobin counts which were bottom end of normal and are now a shade below normal but I'm hoping they stay there whilst the other sky high readings keep coming down. Anyone else been in a similar position? Did RBC/HG also drop further and, if so, what needed to be done to bring them back up? Thanks

Glad to hear that your are responding well to Besremi so far. It is not surprising that your RBCs are also lower now. Besremi does that, which it is why it is used to treat PV. If you find that you are encountering a deficiency in RBCs, there are a variety of different interventions possible. Your MPN care team can best address that issue. It would also be an option to try momelotinib is maintaining your RBC level becomes an issue. Best to discuss all your options with a MPN Specialist.
