It has been a roller coaster these past 5-6 years, diagnosed with E.T. in 2019. I'm doing better while using Besremi, but wanted to ask the community about the relationship between the cancer meds and osteoporosis which I recently was diagnosed having. It would not be typical for my ethnic background. Throughout my life I've been an active person albeit slowed down som with the cancer due to extreme fatigue at times. I still walk regularly and think I engage in weight bearing activity. My vet D levels are fine, but now this new diagnoses requiring meds with ugly side effects. I'm thinking it is a result of the cancer or the meds. I was also on an anti-fungal med for a year or two, maybe that's the cause. I'm always looking for answers. Thanks for listening and I look forward to your thoughts.

Osteoporosis

The timing of the diagnosis may just be coincidence. Sorry. I'm female and around the same age as you. I've always led an active lifestyle, but I had three kids and breastfed them. That's why I now have osteoporosis. For me it's as simple as that, according to the consultant. I couldn't tolerate the weekly tablets of alendronic acid, but now have annual infusions of meds. No side effects.
thanks, I had not thought about that and did not realize that nursing children would have that effect.?
I was diagnosed with PV Jac2+ in 2015. I have been on Hydroxy since and I too have Osteoporosis to the extent that I am now in a wheelchair. I have had 2 Zolondronic Acid infusions and was due my 3rd next week but my husband has had major emergency surgery so I cannot get to the hospital. Hopefully this will slowdown the bone loss as I was losing it at an alarming rate. I wish you luck and wish you well.
I'm also inclined to think that your osteoporosis is not related to your MPN. My wife (with no MPN) is your age exactly and has had infusions due to osteoporosis. In fact, 3 months ago, she fell and broke her hip, since she is so brittle.
Thanks, I may never known for certain.
