I am now 59 and been taking Hydroxycarbamide for some time!

3 x 500mg capsules a day!

My short term memory & brain fog hasn’t cleared?!

Is it the meds or me slipping into something worse?! lol

The short answer is that it could be the HU or could be something else. If the brain fog did not start until after the Hu then it would be reasonable to be suspicious. It is likely that the only way to know is to discontinue the HU and try something else. Suggest you review your situation with a MPN Specialist for the most accurate answers.

Hello .. I am on HU as well . Certainly agree with brain fog and tiredness . However I have had to look at what I am trying to achieve work wise in a day .. I work on the farm . I know I have to prioritise jobs/ goals .. as I can easily overdo it .. which also doesn’t help with brain fog /tiredness . Which is frustrating but I know I have to do it to enjoy my life better .. Hope this helps 😊

If you are, by any chance also taking omeprazole, or other, you may have depleted your vitamin B12 reserves and this will cause you to have brain fog. When you next have a blood test ask if your B12 blood serum can be checked too. Then go from there.

It's the medicine in my humble opinion. I am on it too and deal with not being able to spell correctly and off and on brain fog.
