My gp just add aspirin to my prescription but I would sooner pay £1.29 than have the NHS charged £9.90 for it.Prescriptions are free at 60...

For now

Hi Penny as ET is classed as a blood cancer yes you can get free prescriptions there is a form FP92A you get from your gp, you fill in and either get your gp to sign and submit or your mpn specialist should help

I was told I was eligible for free prescriptions when diagnosed with PV. I was 59 and like you, only taking aspirin, at the time, which I bought for 99p. I'm 60 now, so prescriptions are free. You can get a form from your GP to get free prescriptions.

Yes, prescriptions are free when you have a cancer and over 60. Your GP can confirm your diagnosis and approve the form.

when I was diagnosed the consultant gave me a pack and in it was the prescription exemption form . If you haven’t had one then you can get one at your doctors. It took a while to come through but it’s yours to be claimed 😊

Yes you are entitled to free prescriptions, with an MPN regardless of your age. You need to go to the GP and fill in a form and you'll get sent a little card.

You are entitled to free prescriptions both for MPN meds and anything else you are prescribed. Details on the MPN Voice website here: mpnvoice.org.uk/living-with...

It may not be worth the effort for something as cheap as aspirin but definitely worth having for anything else.

Hi Penny-10, if you have an MPN you can get free prescriptions. It is classed as a cancer. You get a medical exemption card. I’ve had one for about 15 yrs and I get every prescription free. Ask your pharmacist about it. X

I get free prescriptions but started to buy the gastro resistant aspirin as only £3 for over months supply. As I am on Interferon they fund that for my ET Jak2. 👌

It used to be you'd get free scripts if your body should produce something, but didn't. Like Insulin for example. Don't know whether that is still the case. I'm 54 and get free scripts as I have medical exemption. Might be worth checking with welfare rights?
