Hello all

I ve had PV for 16 years, and over the last two years have had bronchitis and pneumonia for 2 months and 4 months ( I have the flu vaccine every year and have had the pneumonia vaccine ) I m now on Ruxolitinib and gather my immune system is even worse than it was!!

I feel jolly peeved that those of us with compromised immune systems can’t have the RSV vaccine until we’re 75.

I know lots of incredibly fit 75 year olds actually who have never had a days illness! I’m 70.

All seems rather odd to me.

Comments please would be appreciated

That does seem odd. Age 75 seems far too late to wait. I had my RSV vaccine when I was 68. The CDC estimates that RSV causes about 60,000-160,000 hospitalizations and 6,000-10,000 deaths annually among adults aged 65 and older in the U.S. The RSV vaccine can reduce risk of serious illness, reducing hospitalizations and mortality, particularly in more vulnerable populations.

Hope you find a way to access the RSV vaccine as you wish.

I am hoping this will change in the Uk going forwards but who knows. I also know 80 year olds who are upset they can’t have it. (Age75-79 only on NHS)You can get it privately but it’s not cheap. When I did a search the cheapest I found was £230

It’s all about cost to the NHS, not who needs it most. 😖

that’s very kind! Thanks so much.

Ruxolitinib has proved transformative and I feel really well.

Not much hope of immunity improving but I can live with that. 😊😊
