I got diagnosed with ulcers and gastritis yesterday. Should I stop aspirin and or HU and ask for a change in meds?

Ulcers and Gastritis
yes I too had ulcers and hiatus hernia. I was informed they had been caused by the use of daily aspirin for decades. First I wondered why I was never told by any gp that it would be damaging . Do not know why that had never been picked up.
So I now take coated aspirin, which is gentle on your tummy.
Good luck they will sort you out. Sandy
The short answer is yes, you need to consider a change to meds. Aspirin can cause gastritis/ulcers. The risk is present even with the enteric form. HU can also cause significant GI issues, including gastritis. My understanding is that GI ulcers from HU occur but are rare. I would be highly suspicious of the aspirin but would not rule out HU as contributing.
There are other treatment options for both antiplatelet and cytoreduction. Examples include clopidogrel or a DOAC or NOAC to prevent thrombosis and Pegasys or Besremi or Jakafi for cytoreduction. These are options that need to be reviewed with a MPN Specialist who can individualize your treatment to meet your needs.
Wishing you success moving forward.
Thanks Hunter.
Yes, you should stop it immediately and contact to your doc to change the med and ask the meds for ulcer gastric.
Usually doc will prescript mesomeprazole.
