Does anyone have a recommended medication for ulcers? My doctor prescribed Daktarin, but the info in the packet said not to take it if you are on blood thinners, which I am, so that is a no go!

You don't say where it/they are. It might be a good idea to talk to your haem. if you are on HU. They can be caused by it. Sallie

Thanks, they are in the mouth and I have just spoken to my haemo team. They have said it will be ok to take the daktarin and see how I get on with it. Best wishes

I had the same problem, i was keeping having ulcers for 4 months!!! 3 at each time continually.

I took homeopathic Borax and that was the end! I didn't get even one since then.

Thanks, I will try that. I would prefer to take something natural rather than all these drugs. Kind regards.

nivana, in addition to Borax check out the relationship between mouth ulcers and gut bacteria imbalance caused by drugs or poor diet. A lot of gut issues make themselves known with oral or skin inflammation.

Aneliv9, since you've had a good experience with Borax you'll appreciate searching on "nothing boring about boron"

PerioSciences AOProvantage gel is very helpful in managing oral ulcers. If the ulcers persist, be aware this is a sign of HU toxicity. Be sure to monitor for signs of oral carcinoma as well (just a precaution as HU can cause this too). When I was on HU I got ulcers, followed by thrush and then leukoplakia.

If signs of toxicity persist, you can consider a switch to another medication. I turned out to be HU-intolerant in that toxicity persisted even at very low doses. Hope you get it all sorted out soon.
