Thank you for all your helpful replies. As I had telephone appointment already scheduled I spoke to Haematologist about getting Anti viral meds. Apparently things have changed and these Covid meds cannot now be sourced through Haematology. On ringing my GP the receptionist understood right away and went to ask the Doctor who filled in and sent all my information to the Covid Hub ( I think it’s called). I had a call very soon from a lady who asked me all the questions and a couple of hours later a Dr. rang to confirm I could have the meds. I now await delivery from my Pharmacy as they have to order. I stressed the urgency. It isn’t the drug mentioned by most of you. This is Molnupiravir. Dr.warned they are very large capsules to be taken 4 all together in morning and same at night. He also warned they can make you sick. Don’t fancy that but will have to persevere. Has anyone else ever been given these, I’d be interested to hear their experience. I think it may be that this one won’t clash with my other meds.

Hi azaelea. Sorry to hear you have Covid. I have some limited information on Molnupiravir. My haem recommends people with MPNs take this anti viral rather than Paxlovid. My husband 76 years (who doesn't have an MPN) caught covid about 3 weeks ago and was prescribed this. He was delirious and very unwell for 24 hours before the drugs kicked in, then he made a great recovery over several days. By comparison, my daughter-in-law (only 49yrs) who also had it, took 2 weeks to recover and said she had never been so ill in her life. We wished she could have had the anti virals too, but in Australia you have to be over 60 years. A 5 day course costs over AUD $1000 full price, but $ 40 on our pharmaceutical benefits scheme. The tablets are in capsules and quite easy to swallow. So from that limited experience, I think you're on a good anti viral with Molnupiravir. Hope you are better soon. Best wishes.
