Hi folks, and many thanks to all of you who responded to my question re clopidogrel. After much pushing I got to see my long time GP - who is a star - and spent 25mins going through the problem, running tests etc., and this is what I learned:

1. Some of the dizziness (associated with sudden movement) may be caused by an inner ear problem, although nothing visible. So not ET or drug related.

2. General dizziness / disorientation may be due to "settling down" with new drugs (Clopidogrel & Atorvastatin). Switching Atorvastatin from pm to am seems to have eased the problem (apparently whereas most statins should be taken at night, Atorvastatin is safe to take at any time). Still take Lisinopril and Hydroxy at night.

3. No sign of further TIA or other nasties (phew!)

So, all together a fairly satisfactory outcome so far. We are now in 'watch and wait' mode in case there is any recurrence, but right now I'm feeling moderately human again.

Thanks again for all the advice (particularly those who firmly suggested that I get to the GP asap). This forum truly is amazing - and its all down to the people who actively post to it.

John

Hi John, just out of interest...did your GP tell you to take Lisinopril at night? Because my prescription states it is to be taken in the morning and it is the only medicine I take which actually has a time specified, which is what made me curious. Very strange and now I’m intrigued...shall have to ask when I next see my GP!

When I first started on BP tablets (Amlodipine) GP by suggested that I take them in the evening in case they caused dizziness. To be honest, I just carried on with PM when I switched to Lisinopril. My GP didn't say I should take them AM, but following your post I will look into it. Not sure if taking them in the morning improves their effectiveness, but taking them in the evening didn't seem to cause any problems prior to adding clodripogel and Atorvastatin to the mixture.

Cheers

John

I also take Amlodopine for my stubborn blood pressure, but I take that at night, only because doc suggested I split them 12hourly. The Lisinopril is the only one that states on the box that I should take it in the morning...very strange.

I just read the patient information leaflet for Lisinopril and it just says to take it at the same time each day, but doesn't state morning or evening. I'm not sure that helps, but that's what it says.
