Good morning friends, just an update my surgery is scheduled for early June. I will be having it in the hospital where I receive my MPN care. I am very relieved they will be able to do it.
I will post more about the process and experience. I have learned a lot!
Everyone take good care.

I've had a hip replacement. As Ling as your surgeon in aware and speaks to your hymotoligist you will be fine. I did end up with a blood transfusion over than that all was great
I, too, am getting my right hip replaced beginning of July. Right now I am going through all the medical clearances needed. So far everything is running smoothly. My dentist wants me to have a deep cleaning due to noticed plaque under some of my gums. She feels this is important before surgery. I already had my left hip replaced in 2015 by the same surgeon and he is aware that since that time I acquired PV. I expect to be in hospital only one night should things turns out well. I am bringing my own medication(suggested) which includes Jakafi that I now take for itching. I planned the surgery so that I am a week between my injection of Besremi. My MPN specialist is on board but unfortunately I live a little from the institution and hospital she is affiliated with, though I do have a local hematologist who has hospital privileges. I also have good faith in my local hospital since this is where my last hip was done. I am on blood thinners and will stop them 48 hours before surgery. It will be very nice to not hobble around anymore. Again, this is a great forum for info and support!
Hi - I had hip replacement last October - no-one could advise me on when to stop & re-start my Hydroxy.Personally, I stopped 1 day pre-op then re-started 8 days post-op.My platelets were fine-only a slight increase, then back down to how they are genearlly with treatment- no other adverse effects! i was very pleased! Lots of luck for your op & recovery..
