Hi all in UK. Has anyone been asked to complete a form by Jet2 asking quite a lot of intrusive questions before showing them to fly? Including questions such as ' is it likely that the passenger will become agitated during the flight'. This to be completed and signed by your consultant within 30 days of flying. I have and been told it's standard for anyone with blood cancer flying with them. I've formally complained but I've not had a response. I'm thinking of going to BBC radio 4 programme to see if they are interested in the story. I'm thinking this is direct discrimination and contrary to GDPR as well. Any thoughts? Similar experience? Help?

Jet2 Holidays Blood Cancer Form
That sounds quite outrageous. I can't imaging any valid reason for an airline to know anything about blood cancer or any other medical condition. It is none of their business.
Please let us know what you find out.
How on earth do they know what medical conditions you have? I’ve flown Jet2 a few times and never had to fill in a questionnaire but then of course they don’t know my health info! It seems totally unreasonable to me.
We've just returned from a holiday with this company and did not come across any such enquiries. Have you raised it with them direct? I don't understand how it is relevant, unless you also perhaps obtained your travel insurance directly through them, if they even offer it? Will be very interested to hear more!
I’m flying next week and my airline haven’t asked for my medical history only my travel insurance , how do they know about yours ?
Hi There,
I've booked with jet2 and fly in July.
I haven't been asked any questions about my health or any of our parties health at all. I have got insurance from elsewhere that specially covers ET.
When/ why did they produce this questionnaire?
I have been asked similar questions by jet2 that was because I required special assistance. This is requested through the airline and they initially ask what are your medical condtions. I declared et which they then looked up and saw was a type of blood cancer. To fly had to complete for to fly from signed by gp. So far only airline that has required this
disgusting! You would be doing us all a massive favour if you did protest.
Flip,I live in Northern Ireland, have ET & have never been asked to fill in a questionnaire like this for Jet2 or any other airline, How strange & unnecessary, if we where not allowed to fly our consultant would have already advised us,, very annoying. xx
I’ve flown Jet 2 umpteen times and never heard of that, how did you come aware of the questions, if it’s for Jet 2 insurance that’s normal from any insurance company
Sounds like a ' fit to fly form' not sure what blood cancers got to do with it! If your up for it go to BBC with it, but if you want to.fly you'll have to.fill.it in.
what a blithering cheek.
I d email the CEO of jet 2
His name is Mr S Heapy
Email sheapy@jet2.com
You probably won’t get a personal reply but you should get through to the high escalation team for complaints. Sounds like someone at jet2 has read a load of rubbish and put it into practice!
Def contact you and yours!!

I’m guessing your request for assistance has triggered a ‘fit to fly’ procedure. The airline needs to know you are medically fit and the second part of the request form asking for medical information is completed by a medical professional.
If your chronic fatigue (ME?) diagnosis is the reason for needing assistance then I don’t see why your Mpn or any other condition needs to be mentioned.
I went through a similar process a couple of times with BA many years ago. I had a broken leg and would have required extra attention in flight in case of emergency, not just with boarding and extra seats.
I have also flown with them and was not asked this. I did ask for assistance but just declared my arthritis, joint pain and inability to stand in a queue, but not specified why I have these things beyond the arthritis. They are normally a good company and helpful. I do not know on what criteria they offer assistance. I did not declare my MF nor my auto immune nor heart issues.
I have know people to fly with a terminal diagnosis and not been asked this info.
Out of interest what lead jet 2 to ask you these intrusive questions?
Hope you can sort it and get on the flight without any trouble.
I fly with jet2 all the time ,I have never filled in a form I am insured ,get the ok from my haematologist to fly get an aisle seat ,drink water, flight socks never had a problem
How do they even know about your condition? You don’t have to disclose this. Madness!
Ok so I've got them to agree that the form is not needed 'in this instance' and that they didn't realise that some blood cancers require you to be anaemic all the time. The helpful man suggests I don't Necton bloid gave off I ask for assistance again as their insurers have said all people with blood gave need to complete this form. He was silent on the issue of breaching GDPR and whether asking g about my likelihood of becoming agitated might actually be more of a mental health question rather than a blood cancer question..... I did threaten BBC Radio 4 you and yours and a human rights lawyer and also dropped in that I work closely with the information commissioners office....
