I was diagnosed with PV in 2010. In 2012, I started getting acne on one side of my torso. Over the years, it spread to the other side and front of my torso. The bumps are slightly itchy at first, and extremely painful if scratched. They can get quite large and painful. I have been to 3 different dermatologists and biopsied multiple times with the official diagnosis of folliculitis aka acne. In 2020, I was put on Besremi and the acne completely cleared up! Unfortunately, my blood counts dropped too much and once I was off the Besremi, the acne came back with a vengeance. Anyone else experience something like this?

I have no experienced this, but did your dermatologist try and treat it? And they didn’t call it pityrosporium, folliculitis on occasion is yeast driven. Should have seen it in one of the biopsies. Folliculitis can be tough at times to treat. Topicals can work, sometimes oral antibiotics and accutane. Not sure how it relates to our diseases. But I hope you feel better soon.
Yeast was not mentioned. I am using a topical treatment that helps reduce the existing blemishes but not to prevent. My derm has suggested accutane which I am considering. My MPN specialist doesn't think it is related to PV or MF. I just thought it was interesting that it occurred around the same time and went away when I was on Besremi. Thanks for the well wishes!
it is interesting. Not sure of the connection. Other than if you have really oily skin and Besremi dried it out. Besremi has caused me to have dry eyes and I know it can cause skin issues. No proof of this, but just a thought. A lot of people that I see with folliculitis have really oily skin or guys will be on testosterone.
