Finally failed at side-stepping the “rona”

Well I guess sooner or later it had to happen.

Four years of avoiding covid and now I caught it whilst traveling for work in the Far East. Started with a cold and a general malaise, then a few days later, last night, I had a slight temperature so I thought I’d check (had packed some tests just in case) and positive I am. Actually, the test went positive straight away so I assume the viral load is quite high and I’ve had it for a few days.

The day before I tested positive I had my Pegasys injection and I am curious to see if the Peg will help once it reaches its peak of release ( from past experience with Peg first dose side effects , apparently I am textbook with 36 hours). That should happen in a few hours but then I imagine it takes some time for the full anti-viral armory to flex its muscle! I am probably under an illusion but it keeps the spirits high !

I am not feeling well but resting, drinking a lot of water (as usual) , taking paracetamol if needed and hoping this resolves quickly as we have a few more days to travel. I am of course conscious of being infective and take precautions. I’ve had six covid jabs, the last one in Sep.

So glad of the air con in our rooms ….

If you are travelling, beware, it is still doing the rounds.

Thanks for the reminder.

Our neighbour has just got over it, he’s had it three times, but he is immunosuppressed. His wife didn’t get it!

Bad enough succumbing to Covid, but being away from home must be just awful for you. Hope you recover quickly without too much suffering.

I’m one of those who has escaped it, but feel like I’m tempting fate just by saying that.

Thank you! In the last couple of hours I have been feeling much better. Maybe Pegasys does help! Well, keep your guard up if you want to avoid it and sorry about your neighbour, it must be very worrying being immunosuppressed.

Wishing you a quick recovery. I had my first bout of covid last December. Similar symptoms but fatigue dragged on for a few weeks. I'm on HU and hopefully Pegasys will help ameliorate any other symptoms for you. Best wishes

I suffered from terrible side effects when I started Pegasus, bizarrely they all stopped when I caught Covid.

I was prescribed anti virus but didn’t need them.

Felt a bit coldy/flu like but 100 times better than I’d been feeling before I caught it!

I could tell when Covid was starting to dwindle as the Peg side effects came back

That is interesting. With immunomodulators like interferon there must be quite a range of potential actions. Very complicated!

Yes, I also thought I had some super immunity 😂. I was at home with positive people on five different occasions and didn’t get it! Back down to Earth!
