I had a gastroscopy a few months ago, I'm on Hydroxy and aspirin.I was anxious about having it done, but had the sedation they offered and all was OK. The actual procedure only took a few minutes. No problems.

hi Kilmichael, it would be advisable to speak to your haematologist about this for advice, and to also discuss with the team who will be carrying out the gastroscopy. I hope it all goes well. Best wishes, Maz

I had a colonoscopy and an endoscopy while taking Hydroxyurea and low dose aspirin. No bleeding problems.

Hi, I had one done about six months ago, I take hydroxy and blood thinner clopidogrel and experienced no problems at all. I told the specialist doctor before my procedure about my condition and the drugs I take and he was happy to go ahead. I opted for sedation and whilst I was aware of something going on ( and a bit of retching) it was absolutely fine so no need to worry.

Had a gastroscopy early last year when on HU and aspirin - no problems at all (and that was without sedation). Have a chat with the specialist carrying out the procedure beforehand and they'll put your mind at rest, I'm sure ;-)
