Leukocytes in urine

I have leukocytes showing in my urine, no other issues, does anyone know if this is linked to ET in any way. Just had anti biotics for a urine infection but course now finished.

I have not heard of a link between leukocytes in urine with ET. Suggest checking with your MPN Care team to be sure. UTIs would be a very common cause of this issue. there can be other causes. healthline.com/health/leuko...

Thankyou Hunter, I am waiting for a GP to call me back with advice, so much going on just now never sure what’s causing what. The NHS is so slow just now appointments and investigations are taking forever. Xx

I actually have had the same condition -leukocytes and no symptoms of UTI. My MPN specialist, HEM, did agree this was most likely due to ET. I believe we find a variety of “ issues” related to our MPN Or at least that is my experience Formerly my PCP said my headaches were not related to ET Then my HEM says yes they are Now I see Neurologist, and get Botox treatments which as reduced headaches by 90% For now this is helping As far as UTI, we may find that we are a bit more susceptible to leukocytes in our urine cultures not sure, but it has happened more than once for me

Grateful for this forum where we can feel “ normal” within the conversation.

Thank you for your reply, Culture found no bacteria, Leukocytes have decreased, I have had false potassium levels before, Haem thought it was due to the way bloods were taken. Normal sample with Haem. We are a strange lot but yes it’s good to know we are not alone. I have ET CALR diagnosed 2006, platelets on diagnosis almost 2 thousand, only found due to blood test for a persistent cough.

could it be bleeding somewhere in the urine tract? I had visible blood in my urine at one point and they found kidney stones and bleeding tendency from very high platelets (ET)

I’m really not a doctor but I think Leukocytes are white blood cells rather than blood, no signs of blood to see or on dip stick. Please correct me if I have got this wrong. Lynn.
