I live in Hawaii where there are no MPN specialists. I would like to be able to have my consultation remotely and I just found out that California no longer allows this. Does anyone live in a state where they allow online consultations? Can any of you recommend a really good specialist in your state?
If I have a few recommendations, I can just call them and ask them if they are willing to do this, as I would prefer not to be flying so far.
Thank you in advance, and wishing all of you the very best.

Th answer to your question is based on the State Code in both Hawaii and the State where the doctor is licensed. I believe this is the correct citation in the Hawaii State Code.
I doubt that many of us will know the State Code regarding interstate telemedicine for our respective states. I do know that the providers have to be licensed in West Virginia to provide telemedicine to someone in WV. I have to drive across the State line to do telemedicine with my docs in Maryland. I believe that some States do have reciprocal agreements.
I would suggest contacting the Hawaii Medical Board to find out which States are most viable for telemedicine. cca.hawaii.gov/pvl/boards/m... They will provide you with the best assistance.
Hopefully there will be Federal legislation on this topic in the USA. It is a significant issue, particularly in areas where there are deserts of specialist care.
I live in NY & my MPN specialist is located in NY. He is only licensed in NY and I was told by his office he can not do a virtual visit with me when I am out of state.
Maybe the one in Edinburgh Scotland would be happy to help you. Just a thought as I am looking for one too and found his name. There is an MPN Forum in Edinburgh early December where the Haematology Team from Edinburgh will be so hope to find out more. I can keep you posted if you like Island Lady x
thank you so very much. As I live in America, I doubt that they would be able to do that but I wish you the very best in finding the right person for you.
