High blood pressure.

Currently lm taking indepamide 2.5 mg for blood pressure it was prescribed 2 years when l was unable to tolerate the side effects from all of the calcium channel blockers. My last reading before Venesection 2 weeks ago was 140/85.At an appoinment last year with Cardiologist he suggested doxazosin l decided against taking this as the side effects were too risky. From my experience l seem to tolerate well thiazide duretics. I would welcome others experience of BP medicine lm fed up living my life suffering the side effects of medicine dished out to me willy nilly by those with little or no intrest in MPNs.Thank you friends.

I did not tolerate lisinopril and discontinued it. I switched to losartan 25mg (an angiostatin receptor blocker). It controlled the BP with no side effects for me. When my hypertension was reduced by controlling the erythrocytosis, we reduced dose to 12.5 mg as prophylaxis even though I am technically no longer hypertensive. Losartan has worked well for me.

Hi Adiewon2, I also have high blood pressure. The prescription that I take is Losartan/HCTZ. I have taken other blood pressure medicine, but this one works best for me. Hope you find the right one that will lower your blood pressure.

Ugggg ended up in AE after starting and came off it soon afterwards But thank you always find your feedback interesting.Adiewon

Hi, I think blood pressure medications are really trial and error, and I have taken a few. I'd try and go back to your cardiologist, or find a new one you're happier with. Mine is great and is always tweaking my medication and finding new ones to try if we're not happy with how one of them is working. Right now I take Carvedilol as my main one, supplemented with Losartan. Good luck!

Thanks for your reply yesc another cardiologist might be a good option for me.Thanks MPN friend
