Do you get results of bone marrow biopsy over the phone or do you see the doctor

bone marrow biopsy
I received mine over the phone, as I chased my results up after waiting for 4 weeks with no news.
I do believe though, they prefer to give these results face 2 face.
But I had waited long enough, considering at BMB I was advised a 10 day wait.
Hope that helps
Mark
My doctor was face to face. 8 weeks after BMB. It was a looonnnng wait.
mine took 5 months to get a straight answer from them. Some seem to just wait for your regular appointments rather than an additional call or letter. Good luck!
I got mine over the phone, after 3 or 4 weeks, not a lot of details though.
I usually receive mine through my patient portal online. If it’s good or bad, a physicians assistant contacts me to answer any questions I may have. And my follow up appointment goes over all my blood and bone marrow biopsy results, any changes to medications etc.
Hi GarciaB,
Same, my results showed up over a period of several weeks in the online patient portal, but no one has ever called me to discuss a result or answer my questions- although we do sometimes exchange some Q&A's on the messaging part of the portal.
Although my heme/onc MD told me that they did order next-gen sequencing in July, when my BMB was performed, I still have yet to see any result in that space.
As an aside, may I correct you in a common error?
The PA title, which was originally "physicians assistant" was changed, I believe sometime in the mid-90's to just be "physician assistant", without the 's'.
Kudos on getting the no-apostrophe part correct too.
Best,
PA
A phone call from a resident let me know basic results pretty quickly (<2 weeks). I could then access the written reports within a month.
